Fun

For Father's day 2003 Jim's family gave him a flight in a WWII trainer plane. This was the same plane that he trained in towards the end of WWII, an SN-J Texan. One of his instructors then was Ted Williams.

The actual flight took place on July 6, 2003. After take-off Jim actually flew the plane and made the landing approach (not bad for turning 80 this year). He said after a short re-orientation he was right at home and won't mind flying every weekend -- well the family might have something to say about that!

Guess what his wish is for next Father's Day — a visit to a working aircraft carrier. Now what do you suppose he will want to do next, yes you guessed it take off and land on the carrier deck!!!

You can safely say that he was absolutely thrilled with his chance to relive one of the highlights of his youth.

See the image below for a view of Jim and the fun he was having.
